Contrelle 'Talking Taboo' Live Series: With Chartered Physiotherapist Christien Bird

As part of our Contrelle 'Talking Taboo' Live series on Instagram, we were joined by Christien Bird, Co-Founder at Menopause Movement & Women's Health Physiotherapist and Practice Owner of the White Hart Clinic.

Thanks to high profile women like Davina McCall being very open about their experience, menopause is having a moment, (and rightly so), in mainstream media. But we were keen to ask Christien what more she felt needed to be done to educate women and raise awareness.

During this live session, we put the below questions to Christien.

  • What are the main menopause symptoms that women find most difficult to deal with?
  • 70% of women have moderate/severe impacts on quality of life – what do you think can be done to reduce this shocking statistic?
  • Do you feel there is still a stigma attached to perimenopause and menopause?
  • How does menopause affect a woman’s pelvic health?
  • Why does menopause make your bladder weaker?
  • What else can cause leakage?
  • What practical things can you do to improve your continence?
  • How can Contrelle help with improving continence in menopausal women?
  • What menopause taboo irks you the most?

To hear Christien's responses and advice you can view a recording of this live session.
